The serial number or IMEI may be required if you want to verify your warranty, contact Apple Support, or buy a used Apple Watch.
These identifiers may be visible in Settings, on your iPhone, and on the Apple Watch casing, depending on the model. So here’s how to locate the serial number and IMEI on an Apple Watch, whether it’s functional or missing in action.
Concerning the IMEI Number
Every Apple Watch model has a serial number, however not every model has an IMEI. An IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) is only offered on variants of the Apple Watch with GPS and cellular.
You can tell which model of Apple Watch you have if you don’t know it by looking at the model number and Apple’s Support site.
Open the Apple Watch’s settings
Assuming your Apple Watch is functional and you can open its apps, the serial number and IMEI can be found here in the most practical location.
- The Apple Watch Settings app should be opened. By tapping the Digital Crown and selecting Settings, you can achieve this.
- Press General.
- Choose about.
The serial number, IMEI, and model number of your Watch are all listed on this screen for your reference.
Launch the Watch app on your iPhone
Perhaps you don’t have your Apple Watch with you or you can’t access the apps on it. On your paired iPhone, you can view its serial number and IMEI in this situation.
- On your iPhone, launch the Apple Watch app.
- At the bottom, click the My Watch tab.
- Press General.
- Choose about.
You’ll see the serial number, IMEI, model number, Wi-Fi address, and other details, similar to the screen in Settings on your Apple Watch.
Tip: From this location, you can also copy the serial number. Select Copy by simply tapping and holding.
Keep an eye on the Apple Watch case
Your Apple Watch’s serial number is visible on the casing. The IMEI is not included in the casing, and the placement varies depending on the model.
The serial number for the first-generation Apple Watch is inscribed on the case’s back.
For Apple Watch Series 1 or later, Apple Watch Hermès, Apple Watch Nike, and Apple Watch SE, the serial number is in the band slot.
By holding the button on the back of the case and sliding the band outward, you can remove the band from your Watch. You may find the serial number by taking a look inside the band slot. ( As shown in the following screenshot from Apple’s website, It is pretty small. To see it better, think about using the iPhone magnifier.)
Other Spots With the Apple Watch Serial Number
Although the areas listed above are the quickest and simplest to locate your Apple Watch serial number, you do have a few different choices. When you’re signed into iCloud you can search for it on your iCloud account using the same Apple ID as your other devices.
Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad and choose your Apple ID. Select your Apple Watch by navigating to the devices section at the bottom of the screen. The serial number, model, and watchOS version are all displayed.
Open System Preferences on a Mac and choose Apple ID. The serial number and watchOS version of your Apple Watch is displayed on the right when you choose it on the left.
Log in to the website the Apple ID website. On the left, click Devices, and then on the right, click Apple Watch. A pop-up window similar to the ones on your other Apple devices will appear, displaying the serial number at the top and bottom along with further information.
You can readily locate these numbers when you need them thanks to the Apple Watch’s multiple locations for the serial number and a few places to locate the IMEI.
